The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), Abuja Visit the Institute for verification exercise.


The Rector Katsina State Institute of Technology and Management (KSITM) Dr. Babangida Abubakar Albaba and his Management team have received a delegation from Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), Abuja for verification exercise.

The verification exercise was part of the pre-requisite for enlistment of the Institute as the beneficiary of TETFUND Interventions. The team leader for the verification exercise Dr. Yusuf Gamawa said they were at the Institute as part of the process of making sure that it has met the requirements for enlistment as the beneficiary of the fund.

Dr. Yusuf Gamawa explained that for an Institution to qualify as a beneficiary of TETFUND Intervention, it must be a public Institution and must be duly recognized by a relevant regulatory body. Similarly, the prospective Institution must have been established by a law, and the academic activities must have commenced in the Institution.

Dr. Yusuf Gamawa was impressed with what they have seen in KSITM and the level of commitment by the Rector and his management team towards accessing the grants from the TETFUND.

In his remarks, the Rector, Dr. Babangida Abubabakr Albaba briefed the delegation that in 2021 the Government saw the need to expand the academic activities of the Institute, which called for the amendment of the law to enable it attain a dual status of Polytechnic and Innovation Enterprise Institute.

Dr. Babangida Abubakar Albaba noted that so far, the Institute as a Polytechnic has commence offering National Diploma courses in Computer Science, Computer Engineering Technology, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Library and Information Science as well as Accountancy.

The Rector expressed optimism that with this development, the Institute has fulfilled the requirements of the TETFUND to be enlisted as a beneficiary of its intervention programmes with a view to complimenting the funding efforts of the State Government.

The Acting Registrar Shamsuddeen Ahmed thanked the TETFUND officials for their desire to uplift the education standard of the Public Tertiary Institutions across the Country.
