Familiarization Visit to the Institute by the New Commissioner


The Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Rural Development Alhaji Mustapha Mahmud Kanti Bello who was recently appointed by the State Government to oversee the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, has paid a familiarization visit to Katsina State Institute of Technology and Management.

The Commissioner was received by the Rector of the Institute Dr. Babangida Abubakar Albaba and other Management Staff of the Institute.

Welcoming the Commissioner and other officials of the Ministry, the Rector Katsina State Institute of Technology and Management Dr. Babangida Abubakar Albaba congratulated the Honourable Commissioner over the appointment.

Dr. Babangida Abubakar Albaba told the Commissioner that the school was established in 2015 with less than one hundred students and now the Institute has over one thousand students.

He enumerated the successes recorded by the Institute to include introduction of Additional National Innovation Diploma Programmes accredited by NBTE and currently the Institute is planning to mount nine additional courses.

The Rector KSITM added that, the Institute graduated a number of skills full student with practical experiences on Science, Technology, Management and Innovations which make them self-reliant.

Dr. Babangida Albaba mentioned to the Commissioner the challenges facing the Institute which include lack of connecting power supply of the Institute to National Grid uncompleted buildings at the school of Management, Students’ hostels among others.

He appreciated the support and cooperation the institute is enjoying from the state Governor Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari and called for its sustenance.

In his response the Honourable Commissioner overseeing the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation who is also the Commissioner of Rural Development Alhaji Mustapha Mahmud Kanti Bello said, the visit was meant to strengthen the harmonious working relationship between the Ministry and the Institute.

The visit according to him was also meant to ascertain the progress and challenges facing the institute for onward government intervention.

He maintained that, he would do everything possible to address the problems of the Institute before the appointment of substantive Commissioner.

In a vote of thanks, the Registrar KSITM Mallam Ma’a Balarabe described the visit as timely and thanked the Commissioner for his concern toward the development of the Institute.

Shortly after the visit, the Management of KSITM and the entourage of the Honourable Commissioner inspected the power House, its control panel and some uncompleted buildings in the School of Management and the students hostel.

Highlight of the visit include the presentation of souvenirs to the Honourable Commissioner, the Permanent Secretary and other officials of the Ministry.
