ILO is the Institute’s front facing office to the industry, project managing the collaboration projects between the Institute and government or industry. This ranges from arranging for student industry attachments to conducting continuing professional education for working adults.
Services
ILO provides the following services, acting to mediate services between the Institute and its community, stakeholders, and general environment:
- Promote innovation in community through technical partnership
- Promote skill acquisition and upgrading as a means to long term employability
- Provide enterprises with employability and career entrepreneurial trainings for development
- Provide internship, incubation opportunity for students
- Provide Professional Education and Development programmes
- Facilitate the Institute's Student Industry Attachment Programme
- Regularly conduct market research and publish studies in conjunction with library information services.
The institute, through its Industry Liaison Office, has an active community outreach programme to continuously engage the community leaders, professionals, young and adult learners, and parents, to share their aspirations and respond more sensitively to their needs.Abubakar Ahmed, ILO Officer
The institute has started to engage some businesses on how new technology and business practices can help them. These informal discussions, called Café Talks, aim to engage vendors over a period of time, to first appreciate new ideas, and then to support them in planning and implementation. These businesses have included a book store, a woodworking business and a software provider.
The institute works with indigenous start ups for incubation through business mentorship, joint research and informational services. The criteria for the shortlist includes it being a novel idea with broad application, the character of its management team, and its direct contribution to the Katsina community. The exit strategy can be the acquisition of its first major customer, the setting up of profitable operations, or, when the management team adds strategic partners.
